Bowness and Windermere

Mid-way down the eastern shores of Lake Windermere - England's largest lake, Bowness has become a deservedly popular holiday venue.

Bowness offers a wide range of activities to holiday-makers of all ages - good shops, a wide variety of restaurants and pubs and some of the best hotels in Lakeland if you are looking for that special evening out. A good cinema and several popular night spots with discos and live entertainment are all available locally.

During the day you can take your pick from the water sports and lake cruises starting from Bowness pier. Take the little car ferry across to the west side of the lake or row out to one of the many islands with your picnic lunch. Bowness is within easy driving distance of all parts of Lakeland. There is an excellent 18-hole golf course just outside the town.
